Garment care
Keeping the colour, the crosses and the fringe as they arrived.
Looked after properly, a loin keeps its colour and its fringe for years of service. Here is what each piece needs.
Loin pieces and sashes
- Spot clean, or dry clean only. Do not put a loin in the washing machine.
- Never wring the fringe. Hang it to air and comb it gently with your fingers until it falls straight.
- Store it flat or loosely rolled in a garment bag, out of direct sunlight, so the colour holds.
- Press on the reverse, on low heat, with a cloth between the iron and the fabric. Keep the iron off the appliqué crosses.
Cross brooches
Wipe gently with a soft, dry cloth. Keep them away from perfume, water and lotion — spray your fragrance first, dress after. Store the brooch in its pouch so the stones do not rub against anything.
Cologne
Store the bottle upright and tightly closed, away from heat and direct sunlight. A bathroom windowsill is the one place fragrance should never live; the heat turns the top notes flat.
Soap
Keep the bar on a well-drained dish between uses. Sitting in water is what makes soap soften and disappear quickly.
Before a service
Hang the loin the night before rather than the morning of. Creases from storage drop out on their own overnight, and the fringe settles back into line without any pressing at all.
